Amazing Antarctica, etc. -- South Georgia Island (1 of 3)

We returned to the Antarctic region in November & December 2024. This 8-minute video highlights our visits to South Georgia Island and the former whaling stations of Grytviken and Stromness. Besides the amazing wildlife found on these islands, both locations are associated with the explorer, Ernest Shackleton. From Grytviken, in 1914, he left on an ill-fated voyage to walk across the entire continent of Antarctica, was rescued on Stromness in 1916, and on another expedition, five years later, died and was buried on Grytviken. 0:00 Introduction 0:42 Grytviken whaling stationh 4:24 Stromness whaling station The background music entitled Antarctica by Audionautix is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/...
