Amazing Antarctica, etc. -- Antarctica (4 of 4)
We returned to the Antarctic region in November & December 2024.
This 10-minute video highlights our landing on Jougla Point (which is on an island next to Port Lockroy), our stop at Port Lockroy (site of the building which houses the world's southern most post office, the store, the museum, and the Gentoo penguins surrounding the building), and our cruise through the Lemaire Channel (it is considered one of the most scenic spots in Antarctica).
Enjoy!

Amazing Antarctica, etc. -- Antarctica (3 of 4)
We returned to the Antarctic region in November & December 2024.
This 6-minute video highlights our Zodiac cruising in Foyn Harbour (while being told of the whale-oil tanker ship, Gouvernøren, which was run aground by its captain after it had caught fire in 1915). The iceberg formations in Foyn Harbour were stunning. Also, on our ship, the Ocean Albatros, we did a night-time cruise through the amazingly scenic Neumayer Channel).
Enjoy!

We returned to the Antarctic region in November & December 2024.
This 8-minute video highlights our stopping at Portal Point (on the Antarctica continent), the only place in our Antarctica stops that we were allowed to play in the snow. On the same day was the ship's Polar Plunge in the Southern Ocean.
Enjoy!

Amazing Antarctica, etc. -- South Georgia Island (3 of 3)
We returned to the Antarctic region in November & December 2024. This 7-minute video highlights our passing by locations on South Georgia Island on the way to the peninsula of Antarctica.
We first did a Zodiac tour of Cooper Bay, then a cruise by of Drygalski Fjord, and we also received an explanation from the ship's iceberg expert. The final amazing sight was watching Orca whales as they encircled the ship. Enjoy!

Amazing Antarctica, etc. -- South Georgia Island (2 of 3)
We returned to the Antarctic region in November & December 2024. This 11-minute video highlights our visits to South Georgia Island and the landings at St. Andrews Bay and Gold Harbour.
We have never experienced a bigger concentration of wildlife than at these two locations. We understood why these locations are also known as the Serengeti of the Antarctic. This is the home to the largest king penguin colonies in the world. These locations are also covered with elephant and fur seals. Enjoy!

Amazing Antarctica, etc. -- South Georgia Island (1 of 3)
We returned to the Antarctic region in November & December 2024. This 8-minute video highlights our visits to South Georgia Island and the former whaling stations of Grytviken and Stromness.
Besides the amazing wildlife found on these islands, both locations are associated with the explorer, Ernest Shackleton. From Grytviken, in 1914, he left on an ill-fated voyage to walk across the entire continent of Antarctica, was rescued on Stromness in 1916, and on another expedition, five years later, died and was buried on Grytviken.
